This week Brick Casey is our guest on the remixmonsta blog. We mainly sat down for an interview on the purpose of his latest remix of the classic 'Out to Flip' but we hit more generic questions along the way about his career.
When did you start making music?
As early as 8 or 9... I would mess around with the piano and had clarinet classes in elementary school. Most of my musical input however came from my mom and dad. Whenever they were having a good time or with company over they would always have vinyl spinning and would ask mr to put on certain records when they played card with company that came over.
What was your main motivation?
I simply loved to entertain, mostly dancing initially. Then singing and rapping came into play.
What software and tools are you using to create your songs?
Mostly Protools... but I'm not stuck on any one brand.
Which part do you enjoy the most during the creation process?
Working with others and nailing projects that have specific needs, (music supervisors).
Is there something currently in the making? Can you tell us more about it?
Yes... Re-Releasing of The Original Street Poets LP on Vinyl and Cassettes.
What are your future plans, in let's say 3-5 years ahead?
To bring back the culture of vinyl and cassette, (boom gap music), as well as working with other like minded artists towards that end. If any are interested; please do reach out as I'm always open to collaborate. For more info: https://www.theoriginalstreetpoetsshop.com
