Charli was using her quarantine time to give her fans an unprecedented glimpse into the creative processes that go into making pop music. “Forever” is an EDM-based instrumental snippet posted to her Twitter on April 7. A few hours later, it morphed into something more romantic and subtle on her Instagram live. On her Instagram stories, however, it became an exhilarating, noisy mess. I believe this is the version Biscuit Baloo was inspired from starting with some heavy beats in his own remix. The song continues with some distorted vocals just to start pumping your heart. In terms of genres, it’s quite hard to define, so let’s just stick with electronic? Good! Maybe it’s my personal taste but I like these chaotic less structured tracks, they definitely have a place in electronic music. In the end maybe because of the autotune and the rhythm I had a “G6” feel during the track, altogether a nice re-work of the original quarantine edition of Forever.
